Job summary

ASM Global-SMG is seeking a dedicated Line Prep/Cook for the Pensacola Bay Center within the Food and Beverage Department. This part-time role requires assisting in food preparation, following recipes, and maintaining high standards in food safety while interacting positively with customers.

Ideal candidates will have at least two years of experience in food service and possess strong communication and organizational skills. ServSafe Certification is preferred. Join a team-oriented environment where quality and customer service are prioritized.

Job description

Position Summary

Line Prep/Cook – Pensacola Bay Center, Food and Beverage Department. Part‑time, hourly, non‑exempt. Reports to: Executive Chef.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of cut vegetables, baked goods, and cold sauces.
  • Follow recipes and basic math to calculate production demands.
  • Follow approved recipes and production standards.
  • Properly label and date food items for storage.
  • Use cutlery and kitchen machinery in a safe manner.
  • Minimize waste by following established production techniques.
  • Produce high‑quality food in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of sanitary practices and gain/maintain a ServSafe Certification.
  • Demonstrate a positive, customer service‑oriented attitude at all times.
  • Maintain proper grooming and dress code standards; present professional appearance and work ethic.
  • Work and communicate effectively within a team environment.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Perform additional duties as required and/or assigned.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and work with limited supervision.
  • Proficient in operating industry‑related equipment.
  • Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and industry terminology.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet stringent schedules.
  • Current ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Detail oriented and able to foster working relationships with partners, clients, employees, exhibitors, and patrons.
Education & Experience

Minimum of two years’ experience in food service as a prep cook is highly preferred.

Physical Demands
  • Walk/stand extensively, kneel, climb stairs, balance, and maneuver throughout the venue.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (or occasionally more) with assistance.
  • Daily lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. for up to 5 minutes at a time.
  • Work inside and outside the building; exposure to adverse conditions may occur.
  • Hear and speak to use a two‑way radio.
  • Flexible hours, including nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
