Job summary

The Line Mechanic C position in Abilene, TX performs installation, maintenance, operation and inspection of overhead and underground electrical facilities, driving line trucks and using electrical test gear. This role builds on Line Mechanic D skills, advancing through the training ladder with supervision as needed.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL, and distribution line experience or equivalent training.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum one year distribution electrical power line work experience or equivalent training.
Valid Class A CDL required.
Willingness to perform overtime and on-call work.
Must live within 30 minutes of the service location.

Responsibilities

Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
Test, energize, de-energize and ground URD cables and equipment as needed.
Work with conductors, cables, transformers and structures under supervision as skill level dictates.
Progress from direct to general supervision; assist with energized line work as training permits.
Direct the work of assistants and complete required apprentice cards monthly.
Build and erect equipment mountings and conduct proper tagging during switching.
