Job summary

Appalachian Power Co. seeks a Line Mechanic in Beckley, WV to install, maintain and inspect distribution facilities both overhead and underground. You’ll progress through line mechanic levels and support safety-focused operations near the Beckley Service Center.

Requirements include a HS diploma or GED, completion of an accredited lineworker program, and CDL per role progression. On-site work with rotating duties and advancement opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited electrical lineworker program or line school preferred.
• Must have CDL class A or be eligible for CDL as noted for progression.

Responsibilities

• Construct, install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and remove overhead and underground facilities.
• Perform line work on energized and de-energized systems per safety rules.
• Assist with switching, sectionalizing, grounding and restoration activities.
• Operate company equipment including trucks and aerial devices.
• Install and troubleshoot URD systems, street lighting, transformers and related equipment.
• Maintain PPE, tools, vehicles and line equipment; document required records.
