Job summary

American Electric Power Co. is hiring a Line Mechanic C at Ripley, WV to perform construction, maintenance, and inspection of transmission and distribution facilities.

You will operate line trucks and related equipment, with progression from Line Mechanic D skills to higher classifications as you gain experience. The role requires relocation flexibility within 45 minutes of Ripley, WV, a valid Class A CDL, and the ability to work on energized lines under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience.
• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Must pass physical abilities assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts under supervision.
• Test, de-energize, ground, and troubleshoot URD cables as skill level dictates.
• Direct the work of assistants and progress from direct to general supervision as you gain experience.
