Job summary

AEP Service Corporation in Ripley, WV is hiring a Line Mechanic C to install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground distribution facilities. You will work with energized and de-energized equipment, interpret drawings, and follow safety procedures to support reliability for our electric system.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL, and progression through Line Mechanic levels with increasing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Assemble, install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and remove overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities and equipment.
Work on energized and de-energized conductors, cables, transformers, switches, reclosers, and related equipment following safety and training requirements.
Test, de-energize, ground, splice, terminate, troubleshoot, repair, and energize URD cables and equipment.
Install, maintain, and operate line switches, regulators, and street lighting systems.
Perform switching activities and follow tagging and clearance procedures.
Locate and correct faults and service interruptions using diagnostic tools.
Interpret drawings and specifications for construction, maintenance, restoration, and live-line work.
Operate company vehicles and specialized equipment used in electric utility operations.
