Job summary

American Electric Power seeks Line Mechanic D candidates for openings at the Glade Spring Service Center, VA. Qualifications

• Candidate must live within 45 minutes safe driving distance of the Glade Spring Service Center, 13563 Owens Dr. Glade Springs, VA 24340.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assembly, installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities.
• Operate line trucks and related equipment as part of overhead and underground work.
• Perform ground person duties and assist with loading, unloading, and handling poles, towers and structures.
• Progress to operate company equipment (D-100 to D-300) and work on energized conductors under supervision.
• Splice primary and secondary overhead wires using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Inspect, maintain and stock vehicles, equipment and tools, and ensure a safe, clean work area.
