Job summary

AEP's Lima Service Center in Ohio is seeking a Line Mechanic C to support installation, maintenance and inspection of transmission and distribution facilities. The role builds on earlier classifications, with duties including energized work up to 600 volts and URD cable handling.

Compensation reflects a structured progression from apprentice through Line Mechanic levels, with CDL required and a focus on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience or equivalent.
• Associate degree from an electrical power line school with internship or 16 weeks of experience.
• Must have the ability to progress to higher classifications or transfer as determined by the company.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Test, de-energize and ground URD cable and energize equipment under supervision.
• Operate volt meters, amp meters and other electrical test equipment up to 600 volts.
• Build and erect equipment mountings and overhead transformer installations.
• Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
• Perform switching of energized circuits and proper tagging procedures.
