American Electric Power in Columbus, OH seeks a Line Mechanic C-A to install, maintain and inspect overhead and underground electrical facilities. The role includes energizing work up to 260 V at initial levels and progressing to higher voltages under supervision; CDL is required.

As part of the Line Mechanic family, you will progress through classifications, perform testing, ground URD cables, and lead apprentice work, ensuring safety and reliability in power delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience.
• Or one year of related line experience with 16 weeks internship or distribution line experience.
• External candidates: journeyman pre‑assessment with 4 years line work experience.
• Must be able to progress toward higher line classifications as determined by the company.

Responsabilités

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities including conductors, cables, transformers and structures.
• Work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts under supervision; handle higher voltages with appropriate supervision.
• Test, de-energize and ground URD cable; splice, terminate and energize URD cable and equipment.
• Use volt meters, ammeters, and other test equipment up to 600 volts.
• Repair and troubleshoot energized lines and equipment.
• Build and erect equipment mountings and transformer installations.
• Tag switching of energized circuits and perform inspections and troubleshooting.
