Job summary

Alaska West Express, Inc. seeks a Line Haul / Anchorage Local Driver to operate tractor-trailer units across AK following company procedures and federal regulations. A valid Class A CDL with HazMat and Tanker endorsements, clean driving record, and 21+ years of age are required.

Five years of OTR experience preferred; haul road experience north of Fairbanks is a plus. Responsibilities include securing shipments, pre- and post-trip inspections, maintaining logs and shipping documents, and

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; five years OTR experience preferred.
Alaska drivers north of Fairbanks — minimum two years haul road experience.
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Must possess valid Class A CDL with HazMat and Tanker endorsements and an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

Secure shipments using cargo straps, ropes, and other restraints.
Inspect trucks and trailers for defects and submit daily condition reports.
Ensure shipping documents (bills of lading, manifests, etc.) are complete.
Hook and unhook trailers from tractors or dollies.
Maneuver vehicle safely in heavy traffic and adverse conditions; install tire chains as needed.
Maintain logs and regulatory records; report safety hazards or incidents immediately.
