Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook is looking for a talented Line Cook who’s ready to roll up their sleeves, ignite their culinary creativity, and help deliver an unforgettable dining experience for our guests.

The Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook is located on the beautiful campus of Stony Brook University. Our hotel has 135 guest rooms, over 3,800 sq. ft. of event space, and is home to our restaurant Northern Coast Kitchen & Cocktails.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  1. Prepare, Cook, and Plate: Take charge of stations (grill, sauté, fry, etc.), carefully preparing ingredients, cooking dishes to specifications, and ensuring each plate is beautifully presented. Whether it’s a seared steak, seafood, or a vibrant salad, you’ll be the expert behind it all.
  2. Follow Recipes and Standards: Adhere to recipes and techniques to ensure consistency and quality. Work with your team to execute menu items and special requests while maintaining culinary standards.
  3. Prep Ingredients: Assist in prepping ingredients—chopping, marinating, organizing—for efficient service. Ensure smooth kitchen operations from start to finish.
  4. Maintain Food Safety & Cleanliness: Follow proper food handling and sanitation standards. Keep your station clean and ensure compliance with health regulations.
  5. Monitor Inventory: Track stock levels, communicate shortages, and help ensure ingredients and supplies are ready for service.
  6. Support Events & Catering: Occasionally assist with special events or catering, creating custom menus and providing excellent service for larger groups.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • 1+ Year of Culinary/Line Cook Experience: Hands-on experience in a fast-paced kitchen, understanding kitchen flow and high-pressure handling.
  • Passion for Cooking: Love for cooking, pride in craft, eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively.
  • Food Safety & Sanitation Knowledge: Familiarity with health regulations and proper procedures.
  • Positive Attitude and Team Player: Bring positivity and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
