Job summary

North Star Mohican Casino Resort is seeking a Cook 1 for our Resort Division. The position pays $17.00 per hour and reports to the Sous Chef.

You will support a fast-paced culinary team, prep and plate items, and ensure food safety and sanitation standards are upheld. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, Serve Safe certification within three months, and the ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• For full-time applicants aged 18 to 19, HSD or GED is required, or proof of current enrollment in an educational program.
• For applicants aged 16 to 17, enrollment proof in an educational program is necessary for flex employment.
• One year of culinary experience and Serve Safe Food Handlers certification within three months preferred.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment, cooking methods, and food safety.
• Competent knife skills and culinary knowledge.
• Familiarity with food products and preparation techniques.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to teamwork and positive guest interactions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Compliance with pre-employment screenings and health standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and serving menu items according to recipes.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area with proper hygiene.
• Demonstrate versatility by working across kitchen stations.
• Complete opening and closing duties and side work.
• Volunteer to support team members as needed.
• Learn to operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely.
