Job summary

Valley View Casino is seeking a Cook I to safely prepare food items following menu specifications and standard recipes in a fast-paced kitchen. You will prepare items, maintain station readiness, and ensure consistent plate presentation while upholding health and safety standards.

The role requires at least six months of cook experience, knife and pan knowledge, and the ability to work flexible hours in a 24/7 casino environment. A drug screen and auditions may be required.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience as a Cook in a high-volume restaurant environment.
• Ability to identify pan types and knife types.
• Demonstrated proficiency with slicer, mixer, robo coupe, tongs and multiple knives.
• Knowledge of sanitary practices and safe food handling.
• Working knowledge of weights, measures and cooking techniques.
• Basic tools to perform the job duties of a Cook.
• Reading and math skills for recipes and measurement.
• Ability to stand on a hard surface for the shift.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and auditions or skill testing.

Responsibilities

• Support and uphold Valley View Casino’s Standards of Excellence.
• Maintain positive guest relations and resolve guest complaints.
• Prepare food items according to standard recipes and menu.
• Demonstrate knowledge of various cooking techniques and sauces.
• Operate kitchen equipment (slicer, steamer, fryer, ovens, grill, mixer, kettle).
• Ensure station cleanliness and FIFO inventory control.
• Label and date all products for safekeeping and sanitation.
• Move to ensure consistent plate presentation and quality.
