Job summary

Youth For Tomorrow is seeking a Kitchen/Food Service Associate to prepare meals, serve residents, and maintain a clean, compliant kitchen environment. You will manage stock, label items, and ensure allergy information is current for daily meal service.

The role requires basic schooling and the ability to work with minimal supervision, including bilingual Spanish/English communication with residents and staff. Position is full-time, on-site at our Bristow location.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years old as required by regulation.
• High School diploma or GED (proof required).
• Knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Bilingual Spanish/English for interactions with residents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and serve residents and staff per shift.
• Maintain dry storage and refrigerators, keep shelves stocked.
• Label foods with expiration dates and monitor shelf life.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen areas per health standards; assist with deep cleaning.
• Assist with food deliveries, organize orders for home usage.
• Ensure allergies are updated on serving lines and offer alternatives.
• Participate in training requirements and other duties as assigned.

Youth For Tomorrow is a 501 (c) (3) and a faith based, non-profit organization, founded in 1986 by Hall of Fame Football Coach Joe Gibbs. The organization is large, diverse, experienced and committed to serving at-risk youth. In our residential treatment program, we serve males and females ages 12 to 18 years old to include youth with varying mental health diagnoses, survivors of trauma, PSB, pregnant and parenting teens, and survivors of commercial sexual exploitation.

Salary Range

$22.00 - $24.00

Role And Responsibilities

• Food prep includes preparation of meals; serving residents and staff on the serving line; replenishing of the soup and salad bar; replenishing items on the service line, such as milk, fruits, etc. Prepare Breakfast, Lunch and/or Dinner based on shift
• Assist with the maintaining the dry storage pantry and refrigerator/freezer stock, cleanliness and keeping boxes off the floor of a minimum of 6 or on shelves.
• Mark all foods with expiration dates, shelf life dates or date received.
• Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas per county health standards. Cleaning is a team effort and all cook staff are required to participate in daily and weekly deep cleaning. Overall cleaning includes but is not limited to: cleaning of the fryers, floors, stove, floors, serving line units, refrigerators, etc. Provide duties to include wash dishes and clean up after each meal.
• Take out the trash as it accumulates during meals.
• Take out the recycling as it accumulates during food deliveries.
• Assist with receiving, sorting and putting away of food orders both the school and home order deliveries.
• When requested, sort and assist with organizing the food orders for pickup per each home.
• Conform to regulation and practices pertaining to safe food storage, handling, preparation, and serving.
• Be knowledgeable and current on learning the faces of students with allergies on a daily basis and offer alternative when the student is served daily. The information is kept current by the Assistant Manager of Food Services in a binder located in the Kitchen Office.
• Clean Tables, sanitize and remove trash between lunch schedules.
• Provide meals for special events and meetings.
• Compliant with all YFT required training.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Trainings - All Training required by YFT, Licensing & Governing Agencies but specifically CPR/First Aid, Handle w/Care (classroom only), Emergency Preparedness, Human Rights and submission of a negative TB screening annually.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 21 years old, per regulation
• Completion of High School or G.E.D.(proof of education required)
• Knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work alone without much direction or direct supervision.
• Ability to prepare and serve meals.
• Ability to maintain a clean and orderly kitchen and cafeteria area.
• Bilingual Spanish/English for appropriate interaction with the Spanish speaking residential community.
