Job summary

The Kitchen at Discovery Park is seeking a Line Cook to join our vibrant restaurant team. You will prepare and execute menu items to meet our quality standards and guest expectations in a busy setting.

Candidate should have at least 6 months of kitchen experience, strong communication, and the ability to work as part of a team. We offer a supportive environment with benefits for full-time staff working 30+ hours per week.

Qualifications

• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Stand in a kitchen environment for long periods (up to 10 hours).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and prep menu items for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces).
• Cook menu items according to recipe specifications, ensuring consistent quality and standard portion sizes.
• Ensure that food is prepared as ordered, comes out in a timely fashion and meets the restaurant's quality standards.
• Follow proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes.
• Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.
• Handle, store and rotate all products properly.
• Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
• Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions.
• Clean up station and take care of leftover food per Park’s waste procedures.
• Stock inventory appropriately.
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
• Close the kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations.
• Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.
