Creative Dining Services at The College of Wooster in Wooster, OH is seeking a Line Cook for first shift (6am–2:30pm), with every other weekend off, to join a friendly, professional team.

As a line cook you will prepare items per recipes, manage batch cooking, logs, equipment checks, proper temperatures, and assist with opening/closing duties.

Requires high school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years cooking experience; reliable, team player, able to work under pressure and multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food items according to established recipes and menus, ensuring freshness, quality and appeal.
  • Utilize batch cooking techniques to avoid over- or under-production.
  • Maintain logs (food temperatures, cooling temps, cooler & freezer temps, etc.).
  • Monitor kitchen equipment for proper functioning and report issues to supervisor.
  • Open and/or close the kitchen as needed, including securing doors and equipment when applicable.
  • Hold prepared food items at correct temperatures (below 40°F cold, above 135°F hot).
  • Store food items per standards with proper labeling and dating.
  • Communicate needs and concerns regarding food production and kitchen operations to supervisor promptly.

We are looking for friendly, experienced food service professionals to complete our line cook team, serving great food to hungry students using state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Our staff have every-other weekend off, paid holidays, opportunities for training and advancement and time off between semesters to spend with family and friends during the winter holidays.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Prepare food items according to established recipes and menus in a manner in which preserves food freshness, quality and appeal
  • Utilize batch cooking techniques to avoid over or under production
  • Maintain established logs (food temperatures, cooling temperatures, cooler & freezer temperatures, etc.)
  • Monitor kitchen equipment for proper functioning; report any discrepancies to supervisor immediately
  • If work shift requires, properly open and/or close the kitchen – unlocking/locking doors & secured areas, and turning on/turning off of all equipment essential to the operation
  • Hold prepared food items at appropriate temperatures (below 40° if cold, above 135° if hot)
  • Store food items according to established standards of practice; utilize proper labeling and dating
  • Communicate needs and concerns regarding food production and kitchen operation to supervisor appropriately, and in a timely manner.

First shift works 6am – 2:30pm Monday – Friday and every other weekend off.

Experience:
