Job summary

NorthAmerican Concessions in Chicago, IL is seeking a Line Cook who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen. The candidate should be self-driven, punctual, and hardworking, with a passion for cuisine and a focus on consistency and quality.

The Line Cook will prepare items to prescribed recipes, read thermometers, and maintain equipment and cleanliness while ensuring safety standards and customer satisfaction. This role requires weekend availability and teamwork in a high-volume setting.

Qualifications

• Proven working experience as a cook.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
• Experience in cooking custom items to order specifications.
• Must be able to prep throughout the shift.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to cook anything on the menu.
• Ability to obtain food safety certifications (Food Handler’s, Allergens).
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Requires occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to obtain CDA/TSA badge and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare menu items according to prescribed recipes and/or special requests.
• Available to work a variety of hours, days, and shifts, including weekends.
• Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment, including knives.
• Maintain food safety and quality standards.
• Ability to read a thermometer correctly and efficiently.
• Communicate any food delays or issues to management.
• Maintain item counts and communicate to staff when quantities fall below minimums.
• Accurately account for all items leaving the station.
• Daily upkeep and cleaning of equipment and work area.
• Follow safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures.
• Handle special orders and dietary restrictions.
• Follow all rules and policies outlined in the handbook.
