Derby City Gaming Downtown is seeking a Cook at entry to senior levels to efficiently prepare menu items according to standard recipes. The role supports both front and back-of-house operations within a busy dining environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalence.
• One-year minimum experience in food preparation and food knowledge preferred.
• Ability to work front and back line positions.
• Must complete any classes or certifications required.
• Ability to obtain a valid Racing License.

Responsibilities

• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (slicer, steamer, fryer, ovens, broiler, grill, mixer, kettle, griddles).
• Read and perform recipes with accurate measurements and math calculations.
• Read, write, speak and understand recipes; communicate with team members.
• Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen areas and equipment; sweep and mop floors.
• Actively participate with staff to cook, prepare, dish-up and assemble all menu items.
• Adhere to control procedures for food costs and quality.
• Follow health codes and hand-washing guidelines.
• Prepare all food items according to standard recipes to ensure consistency for guests.
• Other duties as assigned.
