Job summary

TGI Fridays in Herndon, VA is seeking a Cook to prepare a wide variety of foods according to recipes while adhering to safety and presentation standards.

You will stock and set up stations, communicate with service staff, ensure timely prep, and maintain cleanliness. This role requires stamina in a fast-paced kitchen, the ability to lift up to 70 lbs, and strict adherence to sanitation procedures.

Qualifications

• Must perform multiple tasks, while maintaining standards in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
• Must produce items exactly according to recipe to ensure Guest satisfaction and control food costs in a high volume, fast-paced environment
• Must follow food handling and sanitation procedures to control food costs and ensure overall safety
• Must be able to read Guest orders
• Must be able to hear kitchen, window person and/or Manager requests in the midst of loud background noise
• Must be able to stand, move and walk for entire shift
• Must be able to bend and stoop frequently
• Must be able to lift and carry sacks and cases of up to 70 lbs., up to 20 times per shift: places these items on high shelves and in walk-in freezers
• Must be able to work frequently in a hot and damp environment
• Must be able to occasionally work in extreme cold temperatures in walk in freezer
• Must be able to use hands 99% of the time

Responsibilities

• To prepare a wide variety of foods according to recipe requirements and to adhere to product sensitivities and plate presentation.
• Ensure that all prepared food meets safety and quality standards.
• Place expo-ready food in the window following zoning standards.
• Keep recipe changes updated and execute procedures to maintain quality.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, stock and rotate items.
• Maintain continuous food movement from kitchen to service area.
• Communicate ticket times and potential problems with service staff, kitchen staff and Managers.
• Complete prep work for stocking and setup; breakdown and clean station daily.
• Assist with Line Checks and ensure products meet sensitivity guidelines and safety standards.
• Requisition products timely and operate/maintain equipment properly.
• Sanitize throughout the shift and rotate products with proper labeling.
• Inform supervisor of issues and take corrective action or suggest alternatives.
