Job summary

Hollywood Casino Charles Town in West Virginia is seeking a hands-on cook to join our kitchen team. You will prepare meats, vegetables, and pastries, follow recipes, and maintain quality while adhering to safety standards.

Requirements include 3 months of culinary experience, the ability to read safety rules, basic math skills, and WV Racing Commission licensing eligibility. Training is provided; candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long shifts.

Qualifications

• 3 months experience in the culinary field.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to calculate figures such as proportions and volumes.
• Must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission.
• Attend WV Food Handlers Class and pass certification.
• Stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles.
• Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
• Adds seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking.
• Observes and tests foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with fork to determine that it is cooked.
• Carves meats, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies and sauces, and garnishes servings to fill orders.
• Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use.
• Bakes bread, rolls, cakes, and pastry and any task assigned to you by your master cook, sous chef and room chef and or restaurant manager.
• You are required to follow PPE and safety guidance designed to safeguard you, your fellow team members, and guests.
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
