Job summary

PENN Entertainment, Inc. in West Virginia is seeking a culinary team member to join a fast-paced kitchen. You will bake, roast, grill, and prepare a variety of foods while adhering to safety and PPE guidelines.

The role requires at least 3 months of culinary experience, the ability to read safety rules, and the capacity to follow procedures and calculations as needed. Licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission is required for employment.

Qualifications

• 3 months experience in the culinary field.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission.
• Attend our West Virginia Food Handlers Class and pass certification.

Responsibilities

• Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles.
• Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
• Adds seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking.
• Observes and tests foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with fork to determine that it is cooked.
• Carves meats, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies and sauces, and garnishes servings to fill orders.
• Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use.
• Bakes bread, rolls, cakes, and pastry and any task assigned to you by your master cook, sous chef and room chef and or restaurant manager.
• You are required to follow PPE and safety guidance designed to safeguard you, your fellow team members, and guests.
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
