Job summary

City of Lincoln is seeking a line cook to ensure food is prepared to order while following recipes and department standards. You will communicate with kitchen and front-of-house staff and support the mission, vision, and values.

The role requires 2+ years in a high-volume kitchen, a valid food handler permit, and flexibility to work weekends and holidays. It is full-time with pay $19-$24 per hour plus a $2,500 hiring bonus after 90 days, plus benefits such as PTO and life-related options.

Qualifications

• Must have a current food handler’s permit or be able to obtain one before hire.
• Minimum 2 years cooking experience, preferably in a high-volume kitchen.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Effective communication skills with coworkers and the public.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food to order following recipes and quality standards.
• Maintain proper portion control and presentation for consistency.
• Collaborate with front of house to ensure timely delivery of orders.
• Organize ingredients, rotate stock, and ensure freshness.
• Follow all safety procedures in the kitchen.
• Provide prompt and courteous guest service.
• Set up, restock, maintain and clean prep areas.
• Monitor quality and consistency of all dishes from the line.
• Keep work areas clean and organized.
• Attend mandatory meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
