Job Title: Line Cook
Location: B Star Bar.
Job Type: Full-Time.
Reports to: Head Chef

B Star is an Asian-American neighborhood restaurant in the heart of San Francisco. We offer a relaxed environment to indulge in cuisine from across Southeast Asia. We are looking for cooks with a great attitude who have a passion for cooking to grow along with us.

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Line Cook to join our culinary team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently, particularly during peak hours. The ideal candidate is an experienced cook with strong leadership abilities, excellent time management, and a commitment to maintaining the highest food quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervision: Lead, train, and direct other cooks; maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with recipes and quality standards.
  • Quality Control: Monitor food for taste, appearance, and consistency to ensure high-quality presentation.
  • Efficiency: Oversee the line to ensure timely execution of orders, especially during high-volume service.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with the head chef and kitchen team to foster a supportive and productive work environment.
  • Food Safety: Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and storage protocols in compliance with health regulations.
  • Inventory & Ordering: Assist with inventory tracking, food ordering, and stock rotation as needed.
  • Problem-Solving: Quickly address and resolve issues that arise during service.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a line cook or similar role, with strong cooking techniques and kitchen knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to quality control.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 60 pounds).
  • Ability to withstand high temperatures in a kitchen environment.

Working Conditions:
  • Fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, and noise.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.

Salary and Benefits:
  • $22-26/hr + tips.
  • Benefits include MRA (medical reimbursement account) or up to 50% coverage for employer-sponsored health insurance, free meal.
