Job summary

Essex Meadows is seeking a Line Cook to execute healthy, delicious dishes using herbs, vegetables, and locally sourced ingredients in a fine dining setting.

The role requires strong English communication, arithmetic for measurements, and the ability to follow instructions. Schedule includes weekends/holidays; compensation is $22.00/hr with full benefits and pre-employment screening.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate, read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements and conversions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization per Community standards.
• Prepare and serve meals meeting Nutritional/Dietary criteria.
• Assist with serving and warewashing as needed.
• Interact with residents to evaluate food quality and adjust procedures for improvement.

Essex Meadows is looking for a cook with a passion for creating healthy, delicious food dishes with herbs, vegetables and fresh and locally sourced ingredients.

Position Overview

• Exemplify at all time Community standards of cleanliness, sanitation and operation organization.
• Responsible for adhering to food quality, appearance and presentation standards at all times.
• Produce and serve menu cycle programs that are compliant with required Nutritional/Dietary criteria as required by local regulations and correctly prepare diets provided per Policy and Procedure.
• Exhibit cooking standards of speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of cooking preparation and production.
• Assist with serving of meals and ware washing as necessary.
• Visit residents periodically to evaluate food service such as quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance; and conduct evaluations to make revisions in operations / procedures to promote improved food service.
• Represent the community in a warm and inviting manner, which creates a positive marketing environment.

Supports creating a culture where the business decisions made in this position, along with individual employee engagement, drive top-line revenue and occupancy.

Qualifications

• Some healthcare/hospital experience is preferred along with a positive personality and a strong work ethic.
• Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements and conversions.
