Essex Meadows in Essex, CT is seeking a Line Cook to craft healthy, locally sourced dishes for our exclusive clientele. You will prepare, season, and plate meals, adhere to nutritional and dietary guidelines, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Some healthcare/hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate, read, write and follow instructions in English.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements/conversions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of the kitchen.
• Ensure food quality, appearance and presentation at all times.
• Prepare and serve menu cycles compliant with nutritional criteria.
• Demonstrate speed, accuracy and efficiency in cooking.
• Demonstrate knowledge of cooking prep and production.
• Assist with serving meals and ware washing as needed.
• Visit residents to evaluate food service and adjust operations accordingly.
• Represent the community in a warm, inviting manner to support a positive marketing environment.

Pay: $22.00/hr.

Essex Meadows is looking for a cook with a passion for creating healthy, delicious food dishes with herbs, vegetables and fresh and locally sourced ingredients.

Position Overview

• Exemplify at all time Community standards of cleanliness, sanitation and operation organization.
• Responsible for adhering to food quality, appearance and presentation standards at all times.
• Produce and serve menu cycle programs that are compliant with required Nutritional/Dietary criteria as required by local regulations and correctly prepare diets provided per Policy and Procedure.
• Exhibit cooking standards of speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of cooking preparation and production.
• Assist with serving of meals and ware washing as necessary.
• Visit residents periodically to evaluate food service such as quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance; and conduct evaluations to make revisions in operations / procedures to promote improved food service.
• Represent the community in a warm and inviting manner, which creates a positive marketing environment.

Qualifications

• Some healthcare/hospital experience is preferred along with a positive personality and a strong work ethic.
• Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.
