Position: Line Chef

Location: Springfield, MA

Full-Time: 37.5 hrs/week

Some weekend availability is required.

Summary:

Provide all customers, internal and external, with an exceptional dining experience by performing culinary tasks such as food preparation, baking, broiling, sautéing, braising, roasting, poaching, steaming, and frying hot and cold food items, while adhering to established food safety standards.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform basic culinary tasks including preparation of hot and cold food items, cooking, and cooling, following food safety requirements.
  • Review menu cycles, follow recipes, test products by taste, temperature, portion control, and plate presentation.
  • Properly receive and store departmental supplies.
  • Follow food safety guidelines and document logs (heating/reheating, FIFO, cooling, reach-in/walk-in logs).
  • Complete production logs, prep and pull logs, and daily/weekly Mise-en-place.
  • Comply with departmental policies and procedures, including HACCP, safety regulations, and other guidelines.

Perform job functions in line with the mission and goals of the Loomis Communities, adhering to the Compliance and Ethics Program, respecting diversity, and providing professional, responsive service.

Additional duties include operating dishwashing machines, cleaning and sanitizing work areas, and working harmoniously within a team.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year culinary experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand instructions, deal with problems, and relate well to residents and staff.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work beyond normal hours when necessary.
