Summary Description:

To provide all customers, both internal and external, with an exceptional dining experience while striving to exceed expectations. Delivers quality food and services by performing culinary tasks including food preparation, baking, broiling, sautéing, braising, roasting, poaching, steaming, and frying hot and cold food items, while adhering to established food safety requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Delivers quality services by performing basic culinary tasks including food preparation of both hot and cold food items, cooking, and cooling food items while adhering to established food safety requirements. Reviews menu cycle, follows recipes, tests product by taste, temperature, portion control, and plate appeal. Proper receiving and storage of departmental supplies. Ability to follow food safety guidelines, using and documenting proper food safety logs (e.g., heating/reheating, FIFO, cooling, and reach-in/walk-in logs). Completes production logs, prep and pull logs, along with daily and weekly Mise-en-place.
  • Complies with all departmental policies and procedures, including HACCP, mandatory in-services, safety regulations, and CARF/CCAC guidelines. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Performs job functions in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Loomis Communities. Adheres to The Loomis Communities' Compliance and Ethics Program.
  • Demonstrates awareness of, respect for, and attention to the diversity of the people with whom they interact, reflected in attitudes, behavior, and services.
  • Provides all customers with efficient, professional, and responsive service, communicating with honesty, integrity, and respect. This may include waiting on tables in a timely fashion and properly processing customer requests. Operates dishwashing machines. Cleans and sanitizes work areas, properly using chemicals and following established sanitation procedures.
  • Works harmoniously and cooperatively within a team, collaborating with co-workers while remaining positive and respectful. This includes delivering on resident and guest functions, activities, and promotions.
  • Performs assigned tasks while promoting resident rights and independence.
Qualifications
Preferred Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Experience:
  • 2 years culinary experience
Skills/Competencies:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to relate well to all residents, including the emotionally upset.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public.
  • Ability to report to work regularly and promptly.
  • Ability to work beyond normal hours when necessary.
