Job Description

Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union is seeking an innovative, dynamic, and energetic Limited Term School Counselor to work with students in Grades K-5 at Green Ridge Elementary School. GRES has a collaborative and enthusiastic staff, dedicated to helping students achieve their fullest potential. The successful candidate should possess a wide depth of knowledge and skills needed to implement a comprehensive, results-based school guidance program.

In this role, the School Counselor partners with teachers, support staff, families, and administrators to cultivate learning environments that promote educational equity and success for every student. The School Counselor ensures equitable access to resources that promote academic achievement and personal/social development in a variety of settings.

Applicants are expected to have knowledge in current instructional research and evidence-based instructional practices. Applicants are also expected to demonstrate a deep understanding of the barriers to student learning and possess the skills to close the information, opportunity, and achievement gaps through data-driven school counseling practices and use of advocacy. Strong candidates will demonstrate a student-centered approach, exemplary oral and written communication skills, and strong relationship building skills with students.

The anticipated employment dates are 10/5/26 through at least 10/23/26, and are subject to change.

Annual Salary Range
  • $51,000 to $95,370, based on education level and years of experience; prorated in accordance with FTE

Job Requirements
  • Required Qualifications:
    • A minimum of a Master degree in school counseling or the equivalent.
    • At least two (2) years of previous school counseling experience is required.
    • Strong knowledge of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model and its application in a school setting.
    • Holds or is eligible to hold a Vermont Teaching License with appropriate endorsement.
  • Copies of transcripts and license(s) must be uploaded to the application for all licensed positions. Successful applicants to licensed positions will be required to provide copies of official transcripts to Human Resources before completion of the hiring process.
  • Preferences:
    • Participation in a state approved and accredited Educator Preparation Program with recommendation for licensure in School Counseling is preferred.
    • VT AOE Licensure with the School Counselor endorsement (3-64 or 17-64).
    • Current certification in CPI or other crisis intervention program.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
