Job summary

The University of Arizona Language Training Center (LTC) is seeking part-time adjunct instructors to lead intensive Arabic language courses. Roles involve teaching short-term sessions, developing authentic reading and listening materials, and aligning lessons with DLPT/ILR standards.

Applicants should hold a Master's degree in a related field, be native or near-native in Arabic, and have prior language-teaching experience. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Build and update curriculum and course materials.
• Answer student emails and communicate regularly with students.
• Provide feedback to students throughout the course.
• Submit lesson plans and teaching materials to LTC Program Manager for archiving.
• Coordinate with center directors, other instructors, and LTC staff as needed.
• Provide feedback to Program Manager on course needs.

Funded by the Defense Language and National Security Education Office, the LTC offers language instruction certification and advanced training in multiple strategic languages.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans and instruct sessions according to approved
  curriculum.
• Attend pre-course meetings with Program
  Manager/Executive Director.
• Understand Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) and
  Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) score levels.
• Develop the course(s) curriculum and lesson plans with
  authentic reading and listening materials.
• Build, update curriculum and course materials.
• Answer student emails and communicate regularly with
  students.
• Provide communication and feedback to students
  throughout the course.
• Submit lesson plans and course/teaching materials to
  LTC Program Manager for teaching material archive.
• Communicate and/or meet with center directors, other
  instructors in the same teaching team, and LTC staff as needed.
• Provide feedback to Program Manager/Executive Director
  on course(s) as needed.
• Additional duties as required by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in related field.
• Native or near-native fluency in the Arabic language.
• Prior experience in teaching language courses.

Preferred Qualifications

• Terminal degree in Arabic language pedagogy, second/foreign language education, applied linguistics, or other relevant field.
• Prior experience in curriculum development.
  
• Prior experience in teaching beginner through advanced intensive language courses and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
