Job summary

University of Arizona Language Training Center invites applications for Limited Term Adjunct Instructors in Chinese for short-term intensive courses. Instructors prepare lesson plans, align with approved curriculum, and collaborate with program leadership to deliver high-quality, authentic language instruction.

The role requires native or near-native Chinese, a Master's degree, and prior teaching experience. Compensation is per course, with multiple openings and a fiscal-year teaching schedule.

• Prior experience in teaching language courses.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans and instruct sessions according to approved curriculum.
• Attend pre-course meetings with Program Manager/Executive Director.
• Understand Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) and ILR score levels.
• Develop course curricula and lesson plans with authentic materials.
• Build and update curriculum and course materials.
• Answer student emails and communicate regularly with students.
• Provide feedback to students throughout the course.
• Submit lesson plans and teaching materials to LTC Program Manager for archive.
• Coordinate with center directors, other instructors, and LTC staff as needed.
• Provide feedback to Program Manager/Executive Director on course(s).
• Additional duties as required by supervisor.

The University of Arizona Language Training Center (LTC) is currently hiring Instructors for short-term intensive Chinese language courses. Funded by the Defense Language and National Security Education Office, the LTC offers language instruction certification and advanced training in multiple strategic languages.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Preparelesson plans and instruct sessions according toapproved curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in related field.
• Nativeor near-native fluency in the Chinese language.
• Prior experience in teaching language courses.

Preferred Qualifications

• Terminal degree in Chinese language pedagogy, second/foreign language education, applied linguistics, or other relevant field.
• Prior experience in curriculum development.
• Prior experience in teaching beginner through advanced intensive language courses and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
