Job summary

Solotech is seeking a Lighting Technician to prepare and inventory rental equipment, ensure proper storage, and support client-specific configurations. You will work with the shop team to assemble large orders, perform tests, and maintain equipment readiness for live productions.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset are essential. Ideal candidates have a Technical Theater background or equivalent, with experience in audiovisual or live events

Qualifications

• Technical Theater Degree or other relevant domain, or the equivalent in field experience.
• Less than one year of experience in an audiovisual equipment workshop or live events industry.
• Knowledge of Live Events and/or rental industry in entertainment and corporate environments is a plus.
• Experience with Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare orders of average complexity, scan them, and place them inside the appropriate transport case.
• Work with shop technicians to prepare large orders.
• Customize equipment per client purchase order: modify configurations, program equipment, prepare racks, install software, ensure required accessories are included.
• Perform visual inspection and operation tests on equipment.
• Report breakage and missing components to the Shop Technician 3.
• Maintain organized and clean work area and tools.

The Lighting Technician must prepare equipment for rental as well as place equipment back into the inventory and store it properly in the space provided upon return.

Your day will look like this:

• Prepare orders of average complexity, scan them, and put them inside the appropriate transport case.
• Work with fellow shop technicians to prepare large orders.
• Customize equipment if required by the client, according to the purchase order:
  • Modify equipment’s configuration settings
  • Program equipment according to the standards and client’s needs
  • Prepare racks and systems’ interconnection
  • Install computer software/programs and updates
  • Ensure all required accessories to operate equipment are included (e.g., wiring, adapter, PSU, gelatin, bracket, remote control, etc.).
• Clean and conduct a visual inspection of the equipment.
• Perform operation tests on all equipment.
• Upgrade the items (ex.: paint, cleaning, etc.)
• Report breakage and missing components to the Shop Technician 3
• Perform inventories of requested items
• Follow the quality and preparation standards of the company and/or industry.
• Ensure their section is organized, clean, and all tools are properly stored and maintained.
• All other related tasks assigned

Your profile:

• Technical Theater Degree or other relevant domain, or the equivalent in field experience

• Knowledge of the R2 inventory software (an asset)
• Good knowledge of Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
