Job summary

Solotech in the United States is hiring a Lighting Technician to prepare, configure, and inventory rental gear for live productions. You will customize equipment per client specs, install software updates, and ensure all accessories are present for each order.

Based in a warehouse environment, you will work with shop technicians to assemble large orders, conduct operation tests, and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

Qualifications

• Technical Theater Degree or equivalent field experience.
• Knowledge of Live Events or rental industry a plus.
• Ability to solve problems and stay detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Prepare orders of average complexity and scan them into transport cases.
• Work with shop technicians to prepare large orders.
• Customize equipment per client purchase orders and install updates.
• Ensure accessories are included (wiring, PSU, brackets, remotes, etc.).
• Perform equipment tests and inventories and keep area organized.
• Report issues and maintain quality and safety standards.

The Lighting Technician must prepare equipment for rental as well as place equipment back into the inventory and store it properly in the space provided upon return.

Your day will look like this:

• Prepare orders of average complexity, scan them, and put them inside the appropriate transport case.
• Work with fellow shop technicians to prepare large orders.
• Customize equipment if required by the client, according to the purchase order:
• Modify equipment’s configuration settings
• Program equipment according to the standards and client’s needs
• Prepare racks and systems’ interconnection
• Install computer software/programs and updates
• Ensure all required accessories to operate equipment are included (e.g., wiring, adapter, PSU, gelatin, bracket, remote control, etc.).
• Clean and conduct a visual inspection of the equipment.
• Perform operation tests on all equipment.
• Upgrade the items (ex.: paint, cleaning, etc.)
• Report breakage and missing components to the Shop Technician 3
• Perform inventories of requested items
• Follow the quality and preparation standards of the company and/or industry.
• Ensure their section is organized, clean, and all tools are properly stored and maintained.
• All other related tasks assigned

Your profile:

• Technical Theater Degree or other relevant domain, or the equivalent in field experience
• Less than one year of experience in an audiovisual equipment workshop or live events industry.
• Strong knowledge of Live Events and/or rental industry in the entertainment and corporate environment a plus.
• Knowledge of the R2 inventory software (an asset)
• Good knowledge of Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to solve complicated problems.
• Thoroughness and attention to detail
• Well-developed organizational skills
• Demonstrate ability to work well with clients (internal and external)
• Adapt to change easily.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Flexibility of working schedule (an asset)
• Experience in Forklift operation
