Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a skilled Lighting & Electrical Technician to install lighting fixtures, lamps, ballasts, and controls for clients in San Jose. You will perform installations from ladders or rooftops, ensuring safe, code-compliant work with minimal disruption to customer facilities.

The role requires 2–4 years of lighting/electrical experience, a valid driver’s license, willingness to travel, and strong communication for excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Must have 2–4 years of lighting and electrical experience.
• NRLT designation preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Install lighting fixtures, lamps, ballasts, controls, or other items associated with lighting systems.
• Work safely to avoid damage to customer facilities.
• Access hard-to-reach areas using ladders/scaffolds/roofs to install, maintain, or repair wiring and fixtures.
• Perform physically demanding tasks while applying knowledge of basic/specialized tools and equipment.
• Understand and comply with Government/local regulations and safety guidelines.

Job description

• Install lighting fixtures, lamps, ballasts, controls, or other items associated with lighting systems
• Work in a safe manner so as not to damage or disturb customer's facilities
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures
• Perform physically demanding tasks while conveying knowledge of basic/specialized tools and equipment throughout the service job/work order process
• Must understand and conform to Government/Local regulations and ordinances as well as any/all required Safety Guidelines

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree
• At least 2-4 years of lighting and electrical experience
• Preferably, candidates with an NRLT designation (Non-residential Lighting Technician)
• Lighting and retrofit experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to travel
• Must be reliable
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Positive customer service skills
