Job summary

Sound Image is seeking a System Designer & Estimator Lighting to support Sales and Engineering in translating client requirements into fully documented lighting solutions. You will produce BOMs, quotes, and narratives, ensuring accuracy and maintainability across project teams.

The role emphasizes collaboration with sales, operations, and vendors, applying industry best practices and continuous improvement to meet project deadlines and budgets.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of lighting fixtures and control systems with design/installation experience.
• Ability to read specs and RFPs and translate them into BOMs, quotes and narratives.
• Experience with theatrical and architectural lighting systems strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret functional requirements and site survey information.
• Read and interpret RFP documentation for proposals and RFIs.
• Collaborate with Salesperson to identify optimal solutions within client budgets.
• Author BOMs, quotes, and functional narratives documenting the proposed solution.
• Organize BOMs and narratives for client and internal teams.
• Use DaVinci System Designer to verify appropriate hardware for each project.
• Attend design and project kickoff meetings and other project meetings.
• Advise on drawing packages for accuracy and intent.
• Author change orders for contracted projects as needed.
• Respond to technical questions from Operations as schedules require.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of current technologies and vendor relationships.
• Assist in developing technical standards and processes.
• Collaborate on continuing education plans with the Engineering Manager.
