Job summary

Theater Outsource is seeking an Entertainment Lighting Systems Designer to lead hands-on design from concept to fully documented layouts for theaters and venues. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and customers to deliver high-performance lighting systems and ensure design intent is translated into working, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of experience in lighting systems design or related field.
• Strong knowledge of entertainment lighting systems and controls.
• Experience with electrical systems, control systems (digital/analog), and system layouts.
• Ability to interpret and execute design intent into working systems.
• Strong communication skills — able to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop complete lighting system designs from bid documents through submittals.
• Translate control intent into fully functional, documented systems.
• Coordinate with PMs, engineers, drafting, and product teams.
• Review bid packages and quoted materials for accuracy and compatibility.
• Identify and resolve inconsistencies in project documentation.
• Ensure system designs meet customer requirements and performance expectations.
• Provide feedback to internal teams to improve system design and quoting processes.
• Communicate directly with dealers, reps, consultants, and customers.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lighting systems, controls, and product offerings.
