Job summary

Shepherd Electric Supply seeks a Lighting Sales Assistant to support the Lighting Department in handling quotes, submittals, and vendor coordination. You will ensure timely, accurate submittals and smooth bid processes while maintaining strong relationships with customers and manufacturers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
• 1–3 years of experience in the electrical industry preferred; lighting or wholesale distribution experience a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; familiarity with Eclipse or similar distribution software preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously without loss of accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with vendors, teammates, and customers
• Self-motivated and results-focused; you do not need to be managed to stay on top of your work
• Professional attitude, conduct, and phone demeanor
• Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements

Responsibilities

• Quote and Bid Support with accuracy and urgency
• Create formal submittal packages once a sales order is received
• Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers on product details and lead times
• Track open submittals and flag delays before they affect customers or timelines
• Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers and customers
• Share knowledge with the team to improve product expertise
• Perform other tasks assigned by Lighting Department Manager
