Job summary

Elco Lighting is seeking a Product Development Engineer in Los Angeles to drive the design, development, and testing of innovative lighting solutions from concept to production.

You will work with cross-functional teams to create 3D models, develop prototypes, run tests, and ensure compliance with safety standards like UL/ETL, while keeping thorough design documentation and meeting schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience in product development, preferably in lighting.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Knowledge of lighting industry standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop lighting products including LED fixtures, controls, and systems.
• Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Build and test prototypes to validate designs for functionality, durability, and safety.
• Conduct performance testing including photometric measurements, thermal analysis, and electrical testing.
• Oversee UL, ETL, and other product safety testing and certifications.
• Manage the product development process from concept to launch, adhering to timelines and budgets.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality assurance to ensure production readiness and quality.
• Maintain documentation of designs, test results, and specifications.
