Job summary

Matrix Service Co. in Kentucky seeks a hands-on Equipment Operator to operate forklift, skid steer, Cat 308, excavator and trencher, digging holes and trenches and transporting earth and materials.

This role requires adherence to safety standards and ability to work with supervision. Responsibilities include maintaining safe operations around utilities, using equipment to move material, and performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of mechanical, industrial or refinery maintenance experience.
  • General knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Must pass equipment test and visual observation of operating equipment.
  • Obtain and maintain active status within the drug testing program and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklift, skid steer, Cat 308, excavator and trencher to dig holes and trenches and move earth and materials.
  • Work safely around underground utilities and in tight areas.
  • Identify and address safety hazards and take corrective action.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

Job description

Operate Forklift, Skid Steer, Cat 308, Excavator and trencher which digs holes and trenches and removes and transports earth, gravel and other such materials.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Actively support the Company's commitment to safety and its Core Values

  • To work well with supervision.
  • Operate equipment to dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth, and width and grade.
  • Be able to work around existing underground utilities and tight areas.
  • Use equipment to remove loosened material and put in piles or transport trucks.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

PHYSICAL/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work from elevated or uneven surfaces.
  • Work involves standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in Confined Spaces.
  • Work may include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers.
  • Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing a minimum of 35 pounds to a maximum of 100 pounds, with assistance, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools.
  • Requires visual ability sufficient to perform job duties. Work normally requires eye-hand coordination.
  • Travel and overtime may be required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one (1) year of mechanical, industrial or refinery maintenance experience. General knowledge of basic hand tools. Must be able to pass equipment test and visual observation of operating equipment. Complete the Matrix Service Safety training, and Client/Site specific training. Obtain and maintain an active status within the drug testing program . Must pass a Background.
