Job summary

Matrix Service in the United States is seeking an experienced heavy equipment operator to operate front-end loaders and excavators on industrial construction sites.

You will load/unload, position loads, and work around utilities in tight spaces, while upholding safety standards and company values. This role requires a minimum of three years' operation experience, a valid driver's license, and ability to pass tests and background checks. Overtime and travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial construction environment.
  • Able to communicate with team members both verbally and by signal instruction.
  • Operate equipment to dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth, and width and grade.
  • Must be able to pass equipment test and visual observation of operating equipment.
  • Complete the Matrix Service Safety training, and/or Client/Site specific training.
  • Must Pass a background check.
  • Must obtain and maintain an active status within the applicable drug testing program.
  • Must maintain an active driver's license and successfully clear an MVR and driving record review.

  • Performs loading and unloading of equipment and supplies.
  • Precision positioning of equipment, lifting heavy machinery and components, as well as beams and lumber.
  • Work in a closed or open cab to use pilot operated joystick controls, pedals, levers and buttons to lift, move, and position loads using hoisting attachments, such as hooks, slings, electromagnets, and buckets.
  • Observe load hookup and determine safety of load and inspect and report hoisting mechanism.
  • Communicate with team members both verbally and by signal instruction.
  • Work around existing underground utilities and tight areas.
  • Shoring, soil classes and dewatering.
  • Remove loosened material and put in piles or transport trucks.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

Job Functions

Physical / Special Requirements
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work from elevated or uneven surfaces.
  • Work involves standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in Confined Spaces.
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
  • Work may include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers.
  • May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires visual ability sufficient to perform job duties. Work normally requires eye-hand coordination.
  • Travel and overtime may be required.
