Job summary

Matrix Service in Emporia, VA is seeking an equipment operator with heavy machinery experience to operate forklift, skid steer, Cat 308, excavator, and trencher to dig holes and trenches and move earth and materials.

The role requires at least one year of mechanical or refinery maintenance experience, basic hand tool knowledge, and the ability to pass safety and equipment tests. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year of mechanical, industrial or refinery maintenance experience.
  • General knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Must be able to pass equipment test and visual observation of operating equipment.
  • Complete the Matrix Service Safety training, and Client/Site specific training.
  • Obtain and maintain an active status within the drug testing program.
  • Must pass a Background.

Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Operate Forklift, Skid Steer, Cat 308, Excavator and trencher which digs holes and trenches and removes and transports earth, gravel and other such materials.

TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Operate equipment to dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth, and width and grade.

PHYSICAL/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work from elevated or uneven surfaces.
  • Work involves standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in Confined Spaces.
  • Work may include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers.
  • Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing a minimum of 35 pounds to a maximum of 100 pounds, with assistance, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools.
  • Requires visual ability sufficient to perform job duties. Work normally requires eye-hand coordination.
  • Travel and overtime may be required.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum of one (1) year of mechanical, industrial or refinery maintenance experience. General knowledge of basic hand tools.
