Qualifications

Job Description - Light Duty Mechanic (Rotational Schedule) – VMS Shop Prudhoe Bay, AK (PRU00YP)

Description

This is a remote/rotational position, based in Prudhoe Bay, AK, with a schedule of two weeks on and two weeks off. The typical workweek is 84 hours, including 40 hours of straight time and at least 44 hours at time and a half. All meals and lodging are provided by Worley during the on-location period. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is also provided.

Job Purpose:

Maintenance and repair of typical light duty pick-ups, crew cabs, and larger trucks.

External Description:
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs, including engine and transmission, mainly on Ford Super Duty/F-Series trucks, some vans, and Excursion vehicles, with minimal supervision.
  • Operates and inspects vehicles or equipment to diagnose defects and perform repairs.
  • Works on fuel, electrical, hydraulic, drive train, and other systems using appropriate tools and test equipment.
  • Prepares paperwork and describes failures and repairs, especially related to warranty requirements.
  • Performs work in the shop or field as needed.
  • Specializes in Ram Trucks and Ford Super Duty vehicle repair.
  • Routinely operates Worley/client light and medium-duty vehicles.
  • Climbs ladders of various heights safely.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Thorough understanding of internal combustion engines.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in fabrication and installation of aftermarket products.
  • Basic welding knowledge and ability.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
  • Adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Support for the company’s environmental management system.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. The site is approximately 840 miles from advanced medical facilities, and medical evacuation may be delayed due to weather conditions. The physical requirements include:

  • Standing, walking, sitting, squatting, kneeling, crawling, reaching, working overhead, maintaining balance and coordination in cold environments wearing arctic gear.
  • Prolonged standing and driving in challenging weather conditions.
  • Climbing scaffolds, ramps, stairs, equipment, and ladders of 20 feet or more.
  • Using fall protection equipment as per manufacturer specifications.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy loads as specified.

Qualifications
  • At least three years of experience as a journeyman-level light duty mechanic in construction, dealership, military, or oilfield industries, or equivalent education and experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability by Worley’s auto insurer.
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) certification or willingness to obtain it.
