Job Description - Non-Mobile Mechanic (Rotational Schedule) - Prudhoe Bay, AK (PRU00WW)

This is a remote/rotational position, working in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.

Job Purpose:

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of typical light duty non-mobile or Ground Support Equipment (GSE).

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Performs routine maintenance and repair of typical light oilfield and construction equipment, including but not limited to large volume pumps, light plants, diesel fired heaters, portable generator sets, portable air compressors, and other auxiliary equipment on a journeyman level with minimum guidance from supervisor.
  2. Operates and inspects equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles, repairs, and reassembles as required.
  3. Work on fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and drive-train systems using tools and test equipment common to the trade in a shop or in the field as required.
  4. Routinely operate Worley/client light and/or medium duty vehicles.
  5. Safely climb ladders.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  1. Knowledge of preventative maintenance for power generation and/or all types of non-mobile equipment common to heavy construction and oilfield service industries.
  2. Knowledge of and experience in lubrication procedures for all types of non-mobile equipment common to heavy construction and oilfield service industries.
  3. Ability to maintain equipment maintenance records.
  4. Ability to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments.
  5. Ability to use hand and power tools.
  6. Ability to read and understand schematic, blueprint/drawings, job descriptions, maintenance/safety/technical manuals, and safety/warning signs.

Physical Demand/Work Environment:

Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:

  1. Stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.
  2. Stand for prolonged periods of time.
  3. Drive for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather.
  4. Climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.
  5. Wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.
  6. Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.
  7. Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.
  8. Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.
  9. Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.
  10. Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

Qualifications:

External Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience or formal training at an accredited technical college as a non-mobile or GSE mechanic in the construction, military, aircraft support or oilfield industries.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent.
  3. Valid driver’s license including ability to be insured by Worley auto insurer.
  4. North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Petrochemical, oilfield, or arctic experience.
