Description

The Driver / Operator - Lead position is located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half), with opportunities to work additional hours, depending on business demands. All PPE is provided except for steel or composite toed boots. All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.

Job Purpose:

Routinely operates Fuel Dispenser Truck, and other assorted Fluids hauling equipment and provides day-to-day supervision and technical direction to work crews.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provides day-to-day supervision and technical direction to work crews.
  2. Examines work, equipment assignments and materials for compliance with specifications.
  3. Performs craft job duties as required.
  4. Acts as mentor and provides training and feedback to team members and new employees.
  5. Adheres to Work Execution Plan expectations for work acceptance and planning, execution and close out. Positively reinforces safe work practices by providing daily recognition to team members.
  6. Routinely performs safety and productivity observations; shop, field, and vehicle inspections; and is required to attend various components of technical, developmental and safety training.
  7. Promotes a safety culture that supports and encourages employees to go beyond the call of duty to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and are comfortable intervening to correct inappropriate behaviors and concerns. Champions voluntary safety programs.
  8. Adheres to all North slope and Worley health, safety and environment policies and procedures always.
  9. Assigns work in accordance with work management processes and ensures the safe execution of work within the planned and approved scope, and job plan.
  10. Initiates and maintains positive working relationships with client representatives and other internal and external customers to facilitate project activities, understands current and future customer needs and continually strives to exceed customer expectations.
  11. Completes pre and post trip inspections of trucks/trailers/equipment per DOT and company requirements.
  12. Completes a task hazard assessment IFWA (Incident Free Work Assessment) prior to starting any job.
  13. Safely secures all loads.
  14. Safely climbs ladders on upright tanks (UR) 25’ in height & performs strapping operations to determine ullage of tank.
  15. Safely backs Fuel Truck into position while utilizing a spotter or cone as a point of reference.
  16. Maintains communications with foremen, dispatch, and clients when necessary.
  17. Attends various components of developmental and safety training.
  18. The position is required to perform physical labor when equipment operations are not necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  1. Knowledge of the functional operation, purpose, capabilities, and limitations of all Worley Fuel Dispense fleet along with training on all other pieces of Worley Fluid hauling equipment.
  2. Ability to communicate clear direction to work crew Leads, Crews, management, and client representatives.
  3. Ability to develop and maintain an efficient and effective alternate relationship.
  4. Ability to recognize and correct gaps in the safe execution of field maintenance work scope.
  5. Ability to train, direct and assess employee’s knowledge in equipment operation/driving.
  6. Ability to read, understand and communicate to others information relating to safety/technical manuals, procedures, permits, JSA(s) (Job Safety Analysis), IFWA (Incident Free Work Assessment) cards, and safety/warning signs.
  7. Ability to follow all company, client, safety, and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines as they relate to this position and the work duties being performed.
  8. Ability to hear audible safety alarms and warnings.
  9. Ability to use hands and fingers with sufficient dexterity to perform close, exacting, and repetitive tasks.
  10. Ability to read maps.
  11. Ability to follow detailed directions.
  12. Ability to complete task hazard awareness and mitigation.
  13. Ability to safely drive/ operate, Worley Fuel Dispense trucks and other assorted Fluids hauling equipment.
  14. Extensive equipment operation in congested areas, large volume of backing operations and in severe weather conditions.
  15. Knowledge of standard DOT regulations.
  16. Ability to work at heights.
  17. Ability to work as part of a team; communicate effectively with fellow workers and alternate.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:

  1. Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.
  2. Standing for prolonged periods of time.
  3. Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather.
  4. Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.
  5. Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.
  6. Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.
  7. Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.
  8. Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.
  9. Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.
  10. Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  1. Five (5) years’ experience in operating various types of equipment.
  2. Valid Class A CDL driver’s license with Tanker and HazMat endorsements and ability to be insured by Worley’s auto insurer.
  3. High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  4. Current CDL/DOT medical card.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Petrochemical, oilfield, or arctic experience.
