Job description

This is a part-time position with hours projected to be between 20 to 25 hours per week, depending on candidate availability and program requirements. Candidates must submit their availability at the start of each month and be available for at least two 10-to-12-hour windows weekly.

The Driver is responsible for the safe operation of light, medium, and heavy (if qualified) GSA and Tactical vehicles. Responsibilities include safely operating assigned vehicles to transport passengers as requested by Government customers, following Trip Requests (USMA FORM 1-189), and performing duties as directed by management. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

1. Operate and service Transportation Motor Pool vehicles, including sedans, vans, buses, and tactical vehicles, ensuring safety and maintenance standards are met.

2. Perform vehicle checks and cleaning, including fluid levels, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, wiping down consoles, cleaning windows, fueling, and removing debris.

3. Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, including checking fluid levels, leaks, drive belts, batteries, mirrors, suspension, lights, windshield wipers, horn, parking brake, tires, steering play, and fire extinguishers.

4. For coach buses, additional duties include removing garbage, emptying bathroom waste, restocking supplies, dumping the latrine, and cleaning bathroom surfaces.

5. Perform other duties as assigned by dispatch or management, which may include cleaning, security, janitorial tasks, snow removal, or dispatching.

6. Mandatory overtime may be required.

Qualifications

1. High School diploma or GED.

2. At least two years of recent bus driving experience with a clean driving record.

3. Valid New York State Driver’s License, CDL B with Passenger Endorsement.

4. Current DOT Medical Examiner Card (or ability to obtain).

5. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

7. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

8. Knowledge of and compliance with relevant laws and regulations for vehicle operation.

9. Computer literacy.

10. Ability to maintain government-issued ID.

11. Ability to pass a drug test.
