Job description

This is a part-time position with hours projected to be between 20 to 25 hours per week, based on candidate availability and program needs. Candidates must submit their availability at the start of each month and be available for at least two windows of 10 to 12 hours each week.

The Driver is responsible for the safe operation of light, medium, and heavy (if qualified) GSA and Tactical vehicles. Duties include operating assigned vehicles to transport passengers as requested by Government customers, following Trip Requests (USMA FORM 1-189), and performing other tasks as directed by management. Responsibilities

1. The safe operation and maintenance of Transportation Motor Pool vehicles, including:
2. Sedans/Vans (Standard: 15 minutes, pre and post checks): checking fluid levels, vacuuming, sweeping/mopping, wiping down consoles, cleaning windows, fueling, removing debris, and checking for personal property.
3. Buses/Airporters (Standard: 30 minutes, pre and post checks): sweeping, mopping, wiping, cleaning, fueling, debris removal, and taking cleaning supplies during trips for cleaning during waiting times.
4. Vehicle checks: fluid levels, leaks, drive belts, battery, mirrors, suspension, lights, windshield wipers, horn, parking brake (including CDL requirements), tires, steering play, fire extinguisher, and additional bus-specific duties like cleaning and waste disposal.
5. Perform other duties as assigned, including cleaning, security, janitorial, snow removal, dispatching, etc.
6. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• At least two years of recent bus driving experience with a clean driving record.
• Valid New York State CDL B license with Passenger Endorsement.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner Card (or ability to obtain).
• Fluent in English reading, writing, and speaking.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of and compliance with motor vehicle laws and regulations.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to maintain government ID.
• Pass a drug test.
