Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Lift Planner in Houston, TX to support crane and rigging operations by developing lifting plans, crane layouts, and routine rigging arrangements under supervision. Your background should include engineering or technical discipline and experience in crane operations, rigging, or lift planning, with strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 2–5 years of rigging experience, or 6–9 years equivalent experience.
• Engineering/technical background in crane operations or lift planning is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing lifting plans and supporting documentation.
• Perform crane capacity checks using load charts and approved configuration information.
• Develop crane layouts identifying crane and load locations, operating radii, and load paths.
• Develop routine rigging arrangements and specify slings, shackles, lifting beams, spreader beams, and other rigging components for review.
• Perform basic lift-planning calculations including load and rigging weights, sling loading, operating radius, crane capacity, and utilization.
• Prepare crane layouts and rigging arrangement drawings using AutoCAD.
• Review construction drawings, equipment data, and field dimensions for lift planning.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, and field personnel to obtain required lift information.
• Assist with field verification of crane locations and site conditions affecting lifting operations.
• Complete assigned work within scope and seek guidance for complex judgments.
• Develop working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements and applicable standards.
