Indiana University Health System seeks an EMT to respond to emergencies, provide immediate basic life support, and transport patients to hospital facilities. The role includes on-scene care, enroute monitoring, and adherence to unit-specific policies.
Required are Indiana EMT certification or national certification with Indiana licensure within 30 days, and Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) at minimum. Additional ALS certifications may be needed by unit.
Responds in an emergency medical vehicle to the scene of reported emergencies, nonemergencies and interhospital transports. Provides efficient and immediate basic life support care to the patient at the scene and enroute to and in the hospital. Performs non-invasive procedures and basic life support functions such as, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillation (AED), and bone splinting. Performs specialized life sustaining procedures in a hospital-based advanced care ambulance service. Responsible for providing immediate emergency care and transport of the critically ill or injured.
