Qualifications

• Indiana EMT certification issued by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security or national certification with the ability to obtain Indiana EMT within 30 days of start.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department policy.
• Requires Indiana state driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Responds in an emergency medical vehicle to the scene of reported emergencies and transports patients as needed.
• Provides immediate basic life support care at the scene and enroute to the hospital, including CPR, AED usage, and bone splinting.
• Performs specialized life-sustaining procedures in a hospital-based advanced care ambulance service.
• Ensures safe and timely transportation of critically ill or injured patients.
