Job summary

YMCA of the Rockies seeks a vigilant Lifeguard to supervise pool areas, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies. You will maintain safety, cleanliness, and readiness, while staying current with CPR/Lifeguarding/First Aid certifications and training.

Responsibilities include water rescues, incident reporting, and assisting with waterfront activities as needed. A strong commitment to safety and guest service is essential.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguarding certification (American Red Cross, YMCA, Ellis, or equivalent) and CPR/AED; willing to certify if needed.
• Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.
• Physical ability to use aquatic safety equipment and meet strength/endurance requirements for rescues.
• Willingness to obtain Emergency Oxygen training (provided at no cost).
• Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse ages, backgrounds, and identities.
• Must meet acceptable criminal background check standards.

Responsibilities

• Actively monitor assigned pool areas to ensure swimmer safety.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and perform water rescues when needed.
• Enforce pool rules and communicate safety policies to guests.
• Administer first aid and CPR as required.
• Maintain pool, deck, and locker room cleanliness and organization.
• Complete safety checklists and required reports accurately and on time.
• Support other recreation programs as assigned.
