Job summary

Youth-focused Lifeguard role at the YMCA aquatics facility in Monument, CO. The Lifeguard will explain safety rules to swimmers, enforce policies, and maintain order in pool areas and locker rooms. You will monitor pool temperatures, keep records, and respond to emergencies with swift, decisive action.

Ideal candidates are strong communicators, physically fit, and able to interact with patrons of diverse ages. Lifeguard training is provided, and the YMCA offers a supportive work culture.

Qualifications

• 16 years of age or older.
• Must pass a swim test and skills assessment.
• Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient in interacting with people of various ages from diverse backgrounds.
• Available to work shifts.
• Physically fit, strong, agile and dexterous.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing activities at aquatic facilities.
• Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations and policies to ensure safety of patrons.
• Maintain constant surveillance of pool area using continuous scanning techniques.
• Monitoring designated areas to recognize signs of danger.
• Warning swimmers regarding unsafe situations.
• Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning.
• Performing first aid procedures.
• Maintaining records and reports.
