Job summary

North Carolina State University seeks a Lifeguard in Raleigh, NC. This temporary, part-time position supports safety in an aquatic environment with up to 20 hours per week. Responsibilities include surveillance, guideline enforcement, and event support, with required ARC Lifeguard and First Aid certifications.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Must possess and maintain a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid certification prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Safety and Surveillance: maintain continuous surveillance of the aquatic area and enforce guidelines.
• Facility Inspection & Maintenance: inspect and report unsafe conditions or equipment issues.
• Chemical Testing: perform water chemistry tests and log readings for quality and compliance.
• Event Operations: assist with setup/teardown for programs and events.
• Certification and Fitness: maintain Lifeguard certification and requisite swimming strength and endurance.
• Cleanliness: keep the aquatic environment clean and inviting.
• Guideline Enforcement: enforce Wellness and Recreation guidelines.
• Risk Management: implement the emergency action plan as needed.
• Training and Meetings: attend required trainings and monthly staff meetings.
• Community: build professional relationships with users and coworkers.
